Bugs and Birthdays

Well, we have been enjoying all of our family time here this week. Brandon and Evan are loving that they are getting so much attention, not just from both mom and dad, but also from grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends, too!

We have all been very interested in watching the emergence of the cidadas, bugs that come out in seventeen year cycles. They are big and loud (when you are around a lot of them, they can almost drown out a lawnmower!), but they don't really cause any harm. The boys have been studying them intently. The first picture below shows what the cicadas look like coming out of the ground, and the second shows them once they have emerged from their shells. The last picture is Brandon with his Grandpa John, holding a cicada... ick!
This past Sunday, we had a birthday party for Steve. Wayne and Jane held it at their house here in Frankfort. We completely lucked out with the weather! The morning was cloudy and rainy, but as the day progressed it became sunny and beautiful! Evan and Brandon had a blast playing with everyone. Early on in the party, they started playing with the hose and watering Grandma Jane's flowers, which of course led to two completely soaked boys. :) Steve, our birthday boy, and everyone else really seemed to have a wonderful time. Here are some pictures from the party:

This first picture shows Aunt Linda playing with Brandon and Evan. They love the water! The next one shows Brandon in the aftermath of playing with the hose. :)
Brandon and Evan got to help their dad open his birthday presents, too! They had a blast! Evan is in the second picture having fun with one of Steve's birthday cards.
Tomorrow, we are going to be making the big move into Chicago for the summer. We are excited about being so close to all of the activities of the city, and I am sure the grandparents here are looking forward to finally having some peace and quiet! :) We will be in Chicago for 11 weeks, until August 18th. I will post some pictures of our new place soon.

Have a great weekend!
