Zack did in fact hold out for his scheduled c-section. Steve and I headed off to the hospital around 11 in the morning for our 2:15pm surgery. It was a bit surreal to walk into the hospital and tell them I was there for my surgery appointment. Here is a last belly picture that we took on our way out the door to the hospital.
After a few delays because of a really busy day in the ORs, I walked down for surgery at around 3:5opm, and Zack was born just 20 minutes later! This time, the surgery went much smoother. I stayed awake the whole time, and it was great to be able to see Zack in his dad's arms while the doctors finished everything up. Zack had a few tricks up his sleeve for the doctors, too. Apparently he was biting the doctor's fingers while she tried to deliver him, and once he was out, he peed on her!
In spite of his reluctance to leave my body, Zack did great with the delivery. As soon as we got to the recovery room, he was ready to eat (and, I might add, he has been a great eater ever since). Once he was done eating, Zack got his first bath, too. Here are some of his first pictures from the recovery room.
Meeting Grandma Rose
We made it up to our room around 7:00pm, where we visited some more with the grandparents before settling in for the night. Before heading to bed, Steve made sure to get a picture of Zack with some Mac & Cheese. :)
On his first night, Zack did a great job sleeping, although I wish I could say the same for his constantly worrying mom! :)
Overall, Zack's birth went really well, and I can't really think of anything that we wish could have gone differently. We are so thrilled he is finally here, and we can't wait to introduce him to everyone!

Nice product placement, Steve!
Zack looks just wonderful. I love the photos of the older boys holding him. And then being done with all that in a couple minutes :)
How about that dark hair! A new Ingmire trait? Or did Brandon and Evan have that at birth too?
You're making a trip to Chicago more and more appealing by the minute (by the blog post, really) :)
Glad you're all doing so well and getting a little bit of sleep. You're righ--the family does look bigger--and so fabulous.
Megan.
I'm continually amazed by the magic a new baby brings. We are so excited for you guys and thankful everything went so well. Biting already...watch out big brothers :)
Loves!
